Located at the mouth of the Cape Fear River, intra-coastal waterway, & Atlantic Ocean, the area has long served as a harbor for commercial & recreational boating.  Activity seekers will find their boating needs met at the town’s boat launch areas & privately owned marinas.  Within minutes from these areas the bridge to Oak Island invites you to join the beach goers on a 10 mile stretch of quiet surf & moderate tides.  Either of these areas allows fishermen to enjoy their pastimes from the surf, pier or deep sea.
